Frustration Nation

Why, oh, why can’t all of us humans have everything we want whenever we want it? Totally unfair, right? What causes us humans to become so frustrated? How do we stop this frustrating insanity?

We are frustrated over money, partners, jobs, family, big corporations, banking institutions, utility companies, and on, and on, and on.

We are frustrated because we feel powerless. We feel lost in an abundance of irritations. Everywhere we go and everything we do brings more exasperation.

We have irritations externally because internally we feel defenseless. We take that defenselessness into the external world, which creates exasperation instead of joy.

When we feel defenseless we become victims. To stop being victims we need to become empowered. Our empowerment comes from our positive thoughts and our joyous feelings.

My own frustrations

I used to spend a few nights a week yelling at God about my lack of money. I was so frustrated. I discovered that screaming at God about your messed up life doesn’t change your messed up life. I never won those arguments any way, but that didn’t stop me from having them.

During one of my 3 AM yelling at God moments, as I was crying uncontrollably, I screamed, “Why am I always so frustrated over money?” Silence filled the room. It was like the calm before a storm. Then I heard a voice say, “Exactly, why are you always so frustrated over money?”

Oh my God (literally) it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was always frustrated over money because that was the energy I was putting out into the universe…frustration. I wasn’t putting out gratitude for what I had, only frustration for what I didn’t.

In that moment, I awakened to the fact that frustration was my story and I was sticking to it. My story was that there would never be enough money so I was always going to be frustrated. I knew I had to change that story! I realized I was waiting for the universe/god to send me the cash!

In that moment, I also realized that I was being a victim. I believed to my core that I had nothing to do with manifesting money. I truly believed I had no power in creating my own life.

We are in total control of what happens to us by what we feel and think. You need to believe that otherwise, you are a victim too, my friend. You need to believe that God doesn’t give or take away anything from you.

When I awakened to the fact that God doesn’t giveth or taketh away, I felt empowered! I am in charge of my life! I can change my life with my own thoughts and feelings! I was so friggin excited.

How did I finally end the frustration in my life? One word…GRATITUDE

Now I wake up every day, stand in the hallway of my little house, and thank god and the universe for everything I have. I look at my possessions as well as my cat’s faces. I go outside in my garden and feel gratitude for my plants, trees, a statue of Kuan Yin, my double chaise lounge etc.

Whatever you are frustrated about in your life you can change. The simplest way is to stop focusing on the frustration and instead focus on gratitude for what you have!

That positive energy will draw more positive things to you, the universe will send things to you that make you grateful not things that make you frustrated.

To sum up, gratitude wipes out frustration.

“Remember, happiness doesn’t depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely upon what you think.” Zig Ziglar
